For the medical industry, the proper maintenance of temperature for medicine and units of blood and plasma is an essential element to maintaining the potency and viability of these products. Expanding usage of monitoring equipment in the temperature controlled supply chain, or “cold chain”, is improving the ability of vendors and medical facilities to meet regulatory demands, reduce waste of perishable products, and identify weakness in the cold chain process.

This Research Note examines the trends in medical cold chain and its potential benefits to vendors in the pharmaceutical and medical sector.
