Temboo is a small IoT software company that has attracted some attention as a result of its tie-ups with hardware vendors, mainly because it has provided software and back-end support to some their development kits. It has some attractive tools that lower the barriers to entry for developers who might want to make IoT prototypes but do not have the skills to create their own end-to-end solutions. It also has a collection of ‘use cases’ that looks like a catalogue of every IoT scenario that anyone has ever thought of. This Research Note examines Temboo’s positioning and considers its implications for others involved in providing IoT solutions.
