Public Space Advertising: digital billboards generate lots of traffic and high ‘ARPU’ for MNOs
This Application Spotlight provides a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the M2M market related to Public Space Advertising.
For the purposes of this report we use the term Public Space Advertising, which we define as digital advertising (digital signage and digital billboards) displayed in public spaces. Our definition encompasses some of the areas traditionally covered in Digital Signage and Digital Out Of Home (DOOH) including:
- Digital billboards. Advertising on large boarding strategically positioned along the roadside, in public transport buildings and in (mainly urban) town centres
- Street Furniture. Advertising found on purpose built advertising columns, telephone kiosks, public transport street furniture such as bus shelters but also on garbage bins for example
- Point of Transit. Advertising found in bus, rapid transit and train stations, for example, digital escalator panels, digital advertising on or in public transport vehicles as well as advertising at airports
It provides a definition, description, analysis of drivers and barrier, and high level forecasts for growth in connections, technology split and revenue opportunity.
