This Research Note provides a case study of smart city activities in the city of Berlin. It draws on work carried out to produce Machina Research’s “Smart City Playbook”, which was sponsored by Nokia and published in November 2016. It evaluates Berlin’s programs and trials and provides a numerical score across a range of metrics to provide some points of comparison between Berlin and other smart cities.
