Press Release - New Machina Research report highlights the complexities of the emerging IoT
Machina Research, the world’s leading provider of strategic market intelligence on the Internet of Things, today published a Strategy Report, focusing on the broad spectrum of new issues and market and commercial dynamics that arise with the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT).
The Internet of Things (IoT) will be a truly transformational technology shift. Typically, the terms machine-to-machine and IoT are used almost interchangeably, but the reality is that the IoT is a very much more sophisticated concept.
Machina Research today published a ground-breaking new report 'The Emerging IoT Landscape' which examines the key issues and market and commercial dynamics that arise as a result of the growth of the Internet of Things.
Commenting on the report, Machina Research founder Jim Morrish said: “We are in the early stages of a technological revolution. This report seeks to unpick many of the key emerging market and commercial dynamics that will characterize our future connected lives.”
The report identifies the differences between M2M and IoT and discusses ‘Subnets of Things’ as being the most appropriate lens through which to view our connected future. It includes discussion of machine learning, and how to manage the application of machine learning techniques. It addresses both the lifecycle and topology of data, including consideration of edge processing and the role of the cloud.
Additionally, the report focusses on how different Subnets of Things will connect together, and how data might be traded and monetised in an environment of trust. It concludes with a commentary on the key role played by Enterprise IoT: that is, IoT concepts implemented within a relatively closed enterprise context.
The report comprises 15 chapters of detailed analysis, including sections on: The difference between M2M and IoT; Subnets of Things; Machine learning; Domains of Influence and Event Horizons; The life of data; Fog at the edge and application agility; Liquidity in the ecosystem; Making money from data; Trusted Third Parties, and; the role of Enterprise IoT.
The report is available as part of the IoT Strategies Research Stream. More details of the report can be found HERE. If you would like more information, please contact us.
