Machina Research is currently hiring for the following position(s):

Senior Analyst, IoT Rapid Response

We are looking to recruit an experienced and knowledgeable analyst in the UK to support a new line of business for Machina Research ('IoT Rapid Response') providing rapid review, commentary and analysis of IoT-related events as they occur. It is envisaged that the service will include both weekly and monthly publications.

Machina Research is the world's leading specialist advisory firm focused on the Internet of Things. Our expertise is in identifying the market opportunity associated with the Internet of Things, defining technical and commercial best practice in this emerging market, and communicating it to a diverse range of clients including enterprise users, manufacturers, service providers, investors and regulators. We do this through our multi-client Advisory Service and through client-specific custom research projects. Machina Research is staffed by the leading industry analysts in the sector.

We expect candidates for this role to hold a university degree or higher degree, although the discipline is not critical; our analysts come from a wide range of academic disciplines. The particular requirements for this role are excellent written English, the ability to work efficiently to short deadlines, and an understanding of the Internet of Things. It is not expected that you will be a complete expert on the topic because part of the role is to co-ordinate responses to events from our market-leading set of IoT analysts.

The role would particularly suit someone who has been a telecoms/IT industry analyst or journalist or worked in the technology industry for over 5 years.

This is envisaged as a full-time position, i.e. 37.5 hours per week, based in our London office, but we welcome applications from people who prefer alternative arrangements. Depending on the candidate there may be an additional requirement to travel to conferences and other events.

In addition to salary we also offer a company share ownership scheme and company pension.

Internet of Things Industry Analyst

We are looking to recruit an Analyst in London to cover various subject areas within the Internet of Things.

Machina Research is the world's leading specialist advisory firm focused on the Internet of Things. Our expertise is in identifying the market opportunity associated with the IoT, defining technical and commercial best practice in this emerging market, and communicating it to a diverse range of clients including enterprise users, manufacturers, service providers, investors and regulators. We do this through our multi-client Advisory Service and through client-specific custom research projects. Machina Research is staffed by the leading industry analysts in the sector.

As part of our Research team you will work to become a subject matter expert in one or more of our core areas of research, producing provocative and thought-leading content. Initially the focus will be on conducting desk-based research, writing reports, and developing market forecasts for the multi-client Advisory Service. As your expertise develops you will be called upon to work on custom research and consulting projects as they arise. You will also interact with our clients, briefing them on your coverage areas. You will also be encouraged over time to build your reputation in the industry through press articles, webinars and external speaking engagements.

We expect candidates to hold a university degree, or higher degree, although the discipline is not really critical. Our analysts come from a wide range of academic disciplines. It would also be useful if you have excellent written English, speak other languages, know your way around an Excel spreadsheet, and are a confident public speaker. But ticking all those boxes is less important than being motivated, having an inquiring mind, possessing an interest in IoT, M2M, Big Data or related fields, and being keen to establish yourself as a thought-leader within our team.

The role would particularly suit someone who has been a telecoms/IT industry analyst or worked in the technology industry for a few years (preferably with at least a bit of focus on IoT, M2M, smart cities, connected car, or similar), but it's not critical.

This is full-time position, i.e. 37.5 hours per week, with some flexibility required, particularly related to travel. Over time there will be a requirement for international travel to conferences and client engagements, although this will probably not exceed 10% of your time.

In addition to salary we also offer a company share ownership scheme and company pension.
